What are Polkadot and DOT?
Polkadot is a digital asset available to buy and manage in the Crypto.com App. The Staking feature in the App identifies Polkadot by the ticker DOT.
How to buy Polkadot in the US
In the Crypto.com App, the basic flow is:
- Sign up and verify your identity.
- Top up your account with an available payment method.
- Go to the trading screen, select Polkadot and complete your order if you want to proceed.
You can start with as little as US$1, which means you can buy a small fraction of Polkadot rather than a whole unit.
Ways to pay for Polkadot
You can fund your account and buy Polkadot in the App using bank transfers, including ACH or wire; debit or credit cards; Apple Pay or Google Pay; PayPal; or crypto deposited from another wallet.
If you deposit crypto from another wallet, use a supported token and the correct deposit address. Crypto transactions are irreversible, and trying to deposit a non-supported token may result in loss of tokens.
What to know before staking DOT
After buying DOT, you can hold it in the App wallet. If the Staking feature in the App is available to you, DOT is listed as supported with rewards credited to your Staked Balance and an estimated unbonding period of 29 days.
Staking is not available in New York, California, Maryland, New Jersey or Wisconsin. Reward rates shown in the App are estimates, actual rewards are not guaranteed and Crypto.com service fees are deducted from staking rewards. Staking rewards, fee reduction, and other benefits referenced in this article may be subject to eligibility requirements, token holdings, and may change at the discretion of Crypto.com.
