When you open a USD Cash Account, you are opening a prepaid account in your own name through our partner, Green Dot Bank, Member FDIC. The USD Cash Account is used to make purchases within the Crypto.com App. When you deposit or withdraw funds to/from external funding sources like your bank account, the funds are processed through the Cash Account. However, you do not earn interest on the balance in your Cash Account.
The Cash Earn Account is a sub-account connected to your Cash Account. You must open and maintain a Cash Account in order to be eligible to open and use a Cash Earn Account. The Cash Earn Account does not function independently and is subject to the terms and conditions governing the Cash Account. You will earn interest based on your account balance and Level Up tier.
Funds in your USD Cash Account (United States) are held with Green Dot Bank and are FDIC insured up to $5,000,000 USD. This means your funds are protected against loss in the unlikely event that Green Dot Bank fails. The USD Cash Earn Account is a subaccount connected to your USD Cash Account, a prepaid account provided by Green Dot Bank.
Crypto.com is not a bank so it partners with Green Dot Bank, Member FDIC, to provide this service. For more details, refer to the USD Cash Account - Green Dot Accountholder Agreement for fees and terms and conditions.
Green Dot Bank also operates under the following registered trade names: GO2bank, GoBank and Bonneville Bank. All of these registered trade names are used by, and refer to, a single FDIC-insured bank, Green Dot Bank. Deposits under any of these trade names are deposits with Green Dot Bank and are aggregated for deposit insurance coverage up to the allowable limits.
Interest for the USD Cash Earn Account (United States) are paid out in CRO and deposited directly into your Crypto.com crypto wallet. Interests are calculated daily based on your account balance, the duration funds are held in the Cash Earn Account, and your Level Up tier (refer to crypto.com/levelup for tier details). The APY Rate depends on your Level Up tier, and the total rewards earned each calendar month are converted into CRO at the prevailing USD to CRO market rate at the time of distribution. Rewards are paid within the first five days of each calendar month.
