What is Tether (USDT)?
Tether (USDT) is a stablecoin: a crypto asset designed to maintain a stable value relative to the US dollar. The ticker USDT refers to the US dollar-pegged version of Tether.
Tether tokens also exist on multiple blockchains, including Ethereum, Solana and Tron.
Although the term "stablecoin" is commonly used, there is no guarantee that the asset will maintain a stable value in relation to the value of the reference asset when traded on secondary markets or that the reserve of assets, if there is one, will be adequate to satisfy all redemptions.
How to swap Tether in the Crypto.com App
In the Crypto.com App, the basic flow is:
- Open the App and make sure your account is verified and funded.
- Go to the trade menu, tap 'Buy' or 'Sell' and select Tether with the digital asset or fiat currency you want to exchange it for.
- Review the conversion rate and confirm the swap.
What can you swap Tether for?
In the App, you can exchange Tether for fiat currency or trade it against 400+ other supported tokens. This can include moving from Tether into another crypto asset, or converting it into an available fiat currency.
What should you review before confirming?
Before you confirm, review the conversion rate for the Tether swap. Spread and other fees may apply.
Crypto assets are inherently risky and high volatility can significantly impact the value of your holdings. If the rate or fee information does not match what you expected, pause and reassess before completing the swap.
