What is Pepe (PEPE)?
Pepe (PEPE) is a memecoin launched on Ethereum in April 2023. It is inspired by the Pepe the Frog internet meme, created by artist Matt Furie, but has no affiliation with Furie.
PEPE has no intrinsic value, formal team, utility or roadmap. It was created for entertainment rather than a protocol use case, which makes that context important to understand before buying.
How to buy PEPE in the US
One option is to buy PEPE in the Crypto.com App. The basic flow is:
- Create your account and verify your identity.
- Fund your account.
- Tap 'Buy' and search for Pepe.
- Choose your payment method, enter the amount and confirm the purchase.
Trading is subject to account verification and eligibility.
What payment methods can you use to buy PEPE?
For US-based users, the US dollar (USD) is the primary fiat currency accepted. You can fund your account by bank transfer, credit/debit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay or transfer crypto to your wallet.
You can also deposit USD via ACH or wire transfer to your Fiat Wallet. Depositing USD directly via Local Bank Transfer can help avoid foreign exchange fees when buying Pepe.
Can you buy fractional PEPE or use a Limit Order?
Yes. US users can buy fractional amounts of Pepe for as little as US$1.
If you prefer not to buy at the current market price, a Limit Order lets you set a target price. The order only fills if the market reaches that price, depending on market liquidity.
For a Limit Buy Order, the required funding amount is locked while the order is Open or Processing and can’t be used elsewhere in the App. Limit Orders execute in full only, and partial fills aren’t supported. Credit/debit card Limit Orders expire after 30 days if not executed. For PEPE, the maximum Limit Order size is US$5,000 per order for non-Prime users; Prime users are entitled to a higher notional limit.
