What are Hedera and HBAR?
Hedera is a public distributed ledger that uses hashgraph consensus, not a blockchain. In simple terms, hashgraph uses a 'gossip-about-gossip' protocol and virtual voting to help network nodes agree on transaction order without proof-of-work mining.
HBAR is the native cryptocurrency of the public Hedera network. It's used to pay for network services such as transferring HBAR between accounts, minting and managing fungible and non-fungible tokens, executing smart contracts and logging data to the network.
