Satoshi Nakamoto

Who Is Satoshi Nakamoto?

Satoshi Nakamoto’s identity continues to be a mystery to this day, but this individual or group is accredited with the creation of Bitcoin and publication of the Bitcoin white paper. Many have claimed to be Nakamoto, but none of these claims has been corroborated, and most have been debunked.

Adding to the mystery is that Nakamoto seems to have taken a step back from the Bitcoin project, as their last message on the topic of Bitcoin came during the BitcoinTalk Forum on 12 December 2010. After that, there has been no mention of, or contribution by, Nakamoto with the project.

Satoshi Nakamoto has had a monumental impact on the cryptocurrency space with the creation and implementation of Bitcoin, the world’s first and to-date largest cryptocurrency by market capitalisation

Nakamoto’s impact still resonates within the Bitcoin project: in honour of this contribution, one-hundred-millionth (0.00000001) of a Bitcoin is named a ‘Satoshi’.

Key Takeaway

Satoshi Nakamoto is the pseudonym for the to-date unknown individual or group accredited with the creation of Bitcoin.
