We’re excited to introduce the Cloud Backup feature in the Crypto.com DeFi Wallet, available on both iOS and Android devices!
With Cloud Backup, you can now store encrypted copies of your recovery phrase on your iCloud or Google Drive, and rest easy knowing that you’ll never lose access to your keys again.
All cloud backups are AES-GCM encrypted, and can only be decrypted using the password you’ll set during the backup process. It is highly recommended that you first enable 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) on your cloud drive before backing up your recovery phrase on it.
Cloud Backup can be accessed via Recovery Phrase from the Settings screen. You’ll see the option to back up to either iCloud or Google Drive and be prompted to create a password to encrypt your backup file. Please be reminded to store this password safely, as DeFi Wallet does not store a copy and will not be able to recover it for you.
The Cloud Backup feature will never be enabled by default, and is 100% optional. Other methods of safekeeping your recovery phrase, such as writing it down and storing it offline, offer similar if not superior security compared to cloud backups.
