New ETFs by Trump Media and Crypto.com, DOGE’s birthday, and new SEC era

The market is stirring after weeks of sideways chop. Bitcoin sprang past $93,000 for the first time since March, clocking in a two-day gain of over 8%. Meanwhile, altcoins followed the lead; ETH jumped 11%, XRP added 5%, and Solana climbed 6%, respectively. Meme coins also recorded up to 15% in gains.

The catalyst has been attributed to a tumbling dollar, stock market jitters, and simmering optimism around a cooling of the U.S.-China trade tensions. Bitcoin ETFs even notched the biggest inflow, at $381 million, something not seen since January 30. 

Analysts say the rally reflects crypto’s growing appeal as a hedge against macro uncertainty.

🔷 Vitalik Buterin Recommends RISC-V

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin proposed switching the network’s Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) to RISC-V, which would supposedly boost execution speed and improve performance. The proposal comes as Ethereum faces falling base fees and revenue, with more users migrating to Layer-2 solutions.

🪙 Circle Launches New Payments Network

USDC issuer Circle launched the Circle Payments Network, a stablecoin-based cross-border payment platform, for banks and financial providers to rapidly move funds. The initiative is intended to augment the current SWIFT standard for international payments among institutions.

🏛️ Paul Atkins Officially Kickstarts New Era at the SEC

Paul Atkins was officially sworn in as the 34th SEC Chair, and he has pledged clearer crypto rules. 

📈 TRUMP Jumps After $320M Token Unlock

The TRUMP meme coin surged sharply after a token unlock event released 40 million tokens, equivalent to 4% of the total supply, to its project team. However, the token’s low liquidity remains a risk for traders.

🇸🇬 SGX to Launch BTC Perpetual Futures

Spurred by rising institutional demand, the Singapore Exchange (SGX) will debut Bitcoin perpetual futures in late 2025. Unlike standard futures, perpetual contracts have no expiry, allowing flexible, long-term exposure to BTC’s price movements.

U.K. MP’s X Account Hacked to Promote Crypto Scam

A U.K. Member of Parliament (MP) and Leader of the House of Commons had her X account compromised to promote a fake crypto token, ‘House of Commons Coin’. While the MP has not endorsed crypto before, other politicians have done so, making scams like this harder to spot at first glance.

This attack mirrors similar hacks targeting political figures, like Ghana’s former President John Mahama, where his account was hijacked to promote a fake ‘Solanafrica’ token.

Here’s how to stay safe from scams:

1. Verify crypto-backed initiatives through multiple trusted and/or official sources.

2. Avoid clicking suspicious links, even if they were posted by influential figures.

3. Do not invest more than you can afford to lose.
