What are Ethereum and ETH?
Ethereum is a decentralized blockchain network and software development platform powered by ether (ETH), its native cryptocurrency.
Smart contracts are programs that run on Ethereum. They let people create digital assets and decentralized applications (dapps) on the network.
ETH is the asset you buy when you buy Ethereum. It is used to pay transaction fees, often called gas fees, when you send funds or use applications on Ethereum. Validators also use ETH as collateral to help secure the network.
