We studied the past one year’s performance of 52 coins supported by Crypto.com DeFi Wallet via different methods: the correlation of daily return, token clustering and portfolio management;
The pairs with the highest and lowest correlations were (EOS, LTC) and (CHR, SNX), which are 0.92 and 0.08 respectively;
We have further applied the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and K-means clustering to the tokens’ daily performance matrix to classify them into four different groups:
- Group 1: Veterans;
- Group 2: Rising Stars;
- Group 3: Challengers;
- Group 4: New Joiners
Theories in the portfolio management were applied to the cryptocurrencies: we plotted the Efficient Frontier based on the supported tokens and the maximum Sharpe ratio on the EF was 3.40. This optimal portfolio was comprised of {SNX, KNC, ERD, LINK, CHR};
