  • Crypto.com’s flagship NFT project Loaded Lions broke the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the largest aerial display of a currency symbol formed by multi-rotor drones in Miami, Florida on 1 May. The project surpassed the previous record by using 1,200 drones to display the cryptocurrency symbol of the Loaded Lions token (LION).
  • The ‘Crypto.com Land – Fractured Fate NFT collection, part of the Loaded Lions: Mane City ecosystem, sold all 25,000 featured land NFTs in minutes on 1 May, signalling strong demand.
  • FIFA is launching a new Ethereum-compatible blockchain, dubbed the ‘FIFA Blockchain’, to host its NFT collections and fan experiences. The new blockchain aims to provide better performance, future features, and improved scalability, replacing the Algorand blockchain used by FIFA Collect. The migration to FIFA Blockchain is scheduled to begin no earlier than 20 May.
  • Pudgy Penguins partnered with Lotte Group‘s Bellyland to launch a limited edition collectible set, ‘Pudgy in Bellyland’. The drop includes physical merchandise, such as figurines and accessories, along with digital rewards that integrate with the Pudgy World and Bellyland ecosystems.
  • The Solana blockchain introduced the ‘Solana Game Pass, a free NFT offering early access to selected games and the chance to earn crypto-based prizes by completing tasks. Presently, the NFT is available to mint through Magic Eden and provides access to over 30 games.
  • Ubisoft partnered with Immutable to launch Might & Magic: Fates, a blockchain-powered strategy card game that combines classic gameplay with blockchain technology. This marks Ubisoft’s latest foray into Web3 gaming, following the release of Champions Tactics: Grimoria and Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E. in 2024.
  • Ubisoft launched the Decentralized Verification Network (DVN) in collaboration with blockchain infrastructure firm LayerZero. The DVN enables the transfer of digital assets between more than 130 blockchain networks, including Ethereum, Solana, and Polygon, addressing technical challenges in blockchain gaming.
  • Nike is facing a proposed class lawsuit of US$5 million in damages, alleging that the company broke consumer protection laws and state unfair trade laws by shutting down its NFT platform RTFKT. The lawsuit claims that Nike sold unregistered securities and used its iconic brand to promote the NFTs that led to significant losses for investors.
