What are Tether and USD₮?
Tether is a stablecoin, meaning a digital token designed to track a fiat currency rather than move freely like many cryptocurrencies. The US dollar-denominated Tether token is USD₮, which is designed to hold a stable value against the US dollar.
Tether tokens can exist across multiple blockchains, including Ethereum, Solana and Tron. If you later send USD₮ to another wallet, check that the destination address supports the same network you choose.
While the term "stablecoin" is widely used, there is no guarantee that the asset will maintain a stable value against the reference asset when traded on secondary markets, or that the reserve of assets, if there is one, will be enough to meet all redemptions.
How to trade Tether in the Crypto.com App
In the Crypto.com App, the basic steps are:
- Download the app and complete identity verification.
- Fund your account with AUD or existing crypto.
- Open the trading interface and select Tether.
- Choose an available trading pair.
- Review the details and confirm the transaction.
You can fund your account for free using PayID, or pay with a debit or credit card (Visa or Mastercard), Apple Pay or Google Pay.
What should you check before confirming a Tether trade?
When trading Tether, you can exchange fiat currency or another crypto asset for Tether. Before confirming, check that the pair, amount and direction match what you intend to trade.
Costs can also vary. Other transaction fees and spread may apply, so check the current fee schedule and spread in the app before placing a trade.
With Level Up, you'll pay zero trading fees up to the transaction limit specified per Level Up tier. Other transaction fees and spread may apply.
Can you trade Tether at any time?
The cryptocurrency market runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In the app, you can track real-time price movements and place orders whenever you choose to trade Tether.
Market access doesn't remove trading risk. Crypto assets are inherently risky and high volatility can significantly affect the value of your holdings.
