What is Tether?
Tether tokens (USD₮) are stablecoins: digital tokens pegged 1-to-1 with a matching fiat currency. USD₮ is the US dollar Tether token, with a 1-to-1 peg example of 1 USD₮ = US$1.
They can exist across multiple blockchains, including Ethereum, Solana and Tron.
Although the term "stablecoin" is commonly used, there is no guarantee that the asset will maintain a stable value in relation to the value of the reference asset when traded on secondary markets, or that the reserve of assets, if there is one, will be adequate to satisfy all redemptions.
How to send Tether in the Crypto.com App
- Open the Crypto.com App, head to 'Accounts' and tap 'Crypto Wallet' to find your Tether balance.
- Tap 'Transfer', then 'Withdraw'.
- Choose 'Crypto.com Users' to send to another App user, or 'External Wallet' to send to a supported outside address.
- Enter the amount, double-check the recipient and network details, then authorise with your preferred verification method, such as two-factor authentication (2FA).
Trading is subject to account verification and eligibility.
What can Tether transfers cost?
When you send Tether to another Crypto.com App user, the transaction is instant and free of charge. Other fees, spreads or transfer limits may apply.
External wallet withdrawals are blockchain transactions and come with a fee. You'll find the relevant withdrawal fee in the 'Fees & Limits' section of Settings in the App, so review the cost before confirming.
What to check before an external Tether withdrawal
Because Tether tokens are available across different transport protocols, check the destination address and correct network before sending.
New external withdrawal addresses must be whitelisted before you send crypto. If the 24-hour withdrawal lock is enabled, a newly added address will have that lock applied.
Blockchain Tether transfers can't be cancelled or reversed once they're authorised and confirmed on the network. External withdrawal requests are usually processed instantly, but should take no longer than 2 to 3 hours to go through.
