What is Dogecoin?
Dogecoin (DOGE) is an open-source, peer-to-peer digital currency. At a high level, it uses blockchain technology: a public ledger maintained by a network of computers called nodes.
Dogecoin’s primary purpose has always been to be used as a currency. In practice, that means it is meant for sending, receiving and using as digital money.
How do you send Dogecoin in the Crypto.com App?
In the Crypto.com App, you can send Dogecoin in three steps:
- Open the App, go to 'Accounts', tap 'Crypto Wallet' and find your Dogecoin balance.
- Tap 'Transfer', then 'Withdraw'. Choose 'Crypto.com Users' or 'External Wallet'.
- Enter the amount of Dogecoin you want to send, check the network details and verify the withdrawal with a protection method such as two-factor authentication (2FA).
What should you check before sending Dogecoin?
For an external wallet, you need the exact public address of the receiving wallet. If you’re sending to a new external address, you must add it to your withdrawal whitelist and verify the addition with a protection method such as 2FA.
Check the recipient address and network details before confirming. Blockchain transactions can’t be cancelled or reversed once authorised and confirmed on the network.
These tools help protect account access, not the value of your Dogecoin. Crypto assets are inherently risky, and price volatility can significantly impact your holdings.
Are there fees and timing differences when sending Dogecoin?
It depends on the route.
- To another Crypto.com App user: The transfer is instant and free of charge. Other fees, spreads or transfer limits may apply.
- To an external wallet: Standard network withdrawal fees apply. Timing generally depends on Dogecoin network traffic, so transfers can take a few minutes or longer during peak times. Review the transaction details and network costs in the App before confirming.
