Block Producer

A block producer is an entity responsible for generating and validating new blocks in a blockchain network. They are critical to a blockchain’s functioning, as they collect transaction data and store it in blocks, validating their legitimacy on the blockchain.

In Proof of Work (PoW) mechanisms, block producers are known as miners, while in Proof of Stake (PoS), they are known as validators.

In Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS), users of the network vote and elect delegates (block producers) who ensure the transactions are accurate, validating the block and receiving rewards through transaction fees. These rewards are then distributed to the individuals who voted the block producers in.
