Global Cryptocurrency Ownership Reaches 741 Million in 2025

February 16, 2026 – Crypto.com has released its annual Crypto Market Sizing Report, showing that global cryptocurrency owners increased by 12.4% in 2025 – rising from 659 million in 2024 to 741 million in 2025. 

The year was marked by a series of significant moments for the digital assets industry, including the U.S. leading the way for positioning Bitcoin (BTC) as a strategic asset by establishing its Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and a Digital Asset Stockpile. The growth of public companies’ digital asset treasuries (DAT) and the development of real-world asset (RWA) tokenisation also supported significant growth of the sector through the second half of 2025. Specifically, BTC owners grew by 8.3%, from 337 million in 2024 to 365 million in 2025, accounting for 49.3% of global owners, while Ethereum (ETH) led adoption growth for most of 2025, with owners growing by 22.6%, from 142 million in 2024 to 175 million in 2025, accounting for 23.6% of global owners.

Crypto.com also had a milestone year in 2025. The company continued its industry leadership by securing a series of regulatory licences, including its Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) license in Europe, its Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) license in Europe, and becoming the first major crypto platform to obtain a full stack of U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) derivatives licenses, among many others. 

This past year was also Crypto.com’s most transformative, featuring the rollout of some of its most significant updates and product launches in its history. This included launching stock and ETF trading, the first Crypto.com credit card program, a new high-yield cash feature to enhance access to banking services with the Cash Earn program, and a totally revamped Level Up program providing users with the industry’s most rewarding benefits. Additionally, Crypto.com entered into a definitive agreement with Yorkville Acquisition Corp. and Trump Media & Technology Group for a business combination to establish Trump Media Group CRO Strategy, Inc., a digital asset treasury focused on the acquisition of CRO.
