Chart of the Week
Fantasy.top, a fantasy football-style card NFT game on Ethereum Layer-2 network Blast has quickly become one of the most profitable Web3 apps, ranking 8th in revenue generated over the last seven days. As of 9 May 2024, it earned a total of US$9.75 million in ETH.
The game’s unique concept of turning Web3 Twitter personalities into NFT “hero” trading cards has driven a lot of engagement. The influencers themselves participate in and earn a cut of the pack sales and secondary market fees. According to Decrypt, fantasy.top paid out US$1.25 million worth of ETH to top influencers.
However, the game has also led to technical issues, as its creators had to prematurely end the initial Main Competition due to the control of heroes’ social media engagement metrics by bots.
